Project Overview
South Orange Self Storage is a 100,000-square-foot self-storage facility in Orange County, Florida. BEED Engineering provided mechanical and plumbing engineering design services.
A storage building is mostly unconditioned corridor and unit space, with a smaller conditioned office and restroom load. Mechanical and plumbing design has to match that split instead of treating the whole 100,000 square feet as occupied commercial floor area.
The Challenge
Climate-controlled storage, site offices, and restrooms do not share one HVAC or plumbing profile. The engineering had to serve a large, lightly occupied building in Orange County without oversizing occupied-space systems across every storage bay.
The design had to provide mechanical and plumbing engineering for the 100,000-square-foot facility.
BEED Engineering's Scope
BEED provided mechanical and plumbing engineering design. Electrical engineering was not listed as part of this assignment.
