Project Overview

Cape Canaveral Hospital’s Women’s Center in Cocoa, Florida is an occupied hospital department. BEED Engineering provided MEP engineering design services to replace reheat coils, lighting fixtures, and plumbing fixtures.

This was a replacement assignment in an operating healthcare building, not a new hospital wing.

The Challenge

Reheat coils, lights, and plumbing fixtures in a women’s center have to come out and go back in without treating the floor as a vacant shell. The engineering had to coordinate those replacements as one MEP package.

The design had to:

  • Replace reheat coils serving the Women’s Center
  • Replace lighting fixtures
  • Replace plumbing fixtures

BEED Engineering's Scope

BEED provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design for the fixture and coil replacements. Construction administration was not listed as part of this assignment.

Engineering Solutions

The mechanical design addressed reheat coils in the Women’s Center HVAC. Electrical design covered lighting fixture replacement. Plumbing design covered fixture replacement. Those three replacements were issued as MEP engineering for an occupied hospital department in Cocoa, in Brevard County.
